MEN IN BLUES
"Listen to me"
2000
André GEUTEN, Bass & Vocals - Bernard CASTELLOES, Guitar - Jacques MARECHAL, Drums
The guitar, almost hard rock, switches from solos to bluesy riffs and vocals, deep and profound are totally devoted to the nowadays lyrics.
Three musicians propose you a rough-cut blues, faithful to its roots. Formed in 1998, the trio plays in its own original style with funky accents and modern harmonies. Drummer and bassist, together are an efficient “rythmbox”. The guitar, almost hard rock, switches from solos to bluesy riffs and the vocals, deep and profound are totally devoted to the nowadays lyrics.
The themes are a look-a-like caricature of our present and future way of life. Take “a prince again” or paradise lost, “listen to me” or the individual alone up against the establishment, “but you call me”, or when the new communication channels don’t improve human contact.
In short, we’ve come a long way since the cotton fields which saw the birth of blues; the face of slavery has changed. After two seasons of many concerts (Blues Gaume Festival, Chestrock Festival, Gaume Jazz Festival, Fêtes de la Musique in Bastogne, Libramont...) the band decided to record his first CD: “Listen to me”.
It must be said that the members of Men In Blues are not at their first experience (20 to 30 years presence on many scenes with blues, rock or variety). The trio has found a sound balance permitting to export themselves and to look forward undertaking new projects and recording more original compositions.
