...not just because he plays a style of music that had its heyday seven decades ago, but because he does it with the depth and maturity of a gray- haired veteran.
"THE READER" (CHICAGO) NOVEMBER 30th 2001

When Renaud was 10, he was hypnotized by his uncle Paul's fingers as they flew over the black and white keys. That is how he was drawn into the world of Boogie Woogie.
'Playing monkey', he imitated his uncle and few years later, was able to reproduce the same sound. At age 16 he moved further toward his musical career. It was then that he has attended, together with his brother Tristan, a session of jazz history, given at school by the Pol CLOSSET Trio with Marc HÉROUET (piano) and Bob DARTSCH (drums). His vocation took shape.

Belgian boogie-woogie expert Renaud Patigny and Chicago Reginald Robinson - have proven that there's plenty of creative potential left in historic musical forms. Renaud PATIGNY is an selftaught musician with a very fine tuned ear and much like uncle's Paul fingers, his also fly over the keys of the piano. By now, he has a track record of some 1000 concerts, in Belgium and abroad (USA, Germany, France, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Spain, England and Bulgaria, Sweden and Denmark).

He has been on TV numerous times (RTL, RTBF, BRT) AND IS FEATURED IN A CLIP "Nunusse Symphony" performed by SQUEEZE ME (his own group). He is the composer for "Ciné Follies", a series of 100 clips shown over RTL, BRT, RTP, ARD, in Africa and Scandinavia. He composed music for Christian MESNIL.

And last but not least, composed the sound track for the film" A CHACUN SON CINÉMA" BY Jean-Noël GOBRON.

Renaud PATIGNY is specialised in transcribing original jazz master pieces and blues from old 78 rpm records.

...when a pianist such as Patigny applies all his energies to the genre, the rewards can be enormous, as the evening ovations suggested.
